More than 70 people have been hospitalised in Londiani Sub-county Hospital in Kericho County after consuming contaminated milk, commonly known as Mursik.

The patients including children from Masaita and Kabianga villages in Londiani East Constituency began vomiting and passing loose stool  immediately after taking the milk supplied by a local vendor at a church graduation ceremony.

Speaking to the media, Maureen Chepkoech, a nurse at the hospital cited food poisoning saying  nine children who were affected are being treated for severe dehydration.

The victims narrated how they began experiencing joint pains and sudden vomiting and diarrhea, after taking the milk. They now want the government to launch investigations into the matter.
